Remember back when I had no hair?

Now I have so much hair, I can sport two different hairstyles at once!

If we take nothing else away from this year's World Cup, at least we all will have learned the lesson that If You Keep On Kicking Argentineans In the Shins, They Will Get Really Annoyed And Annihilate Your Team 6-0.

Oh, and also, Japan? Not so good at the soccer. Now, in order to advance to the next round, they will have to beat Brazil. By at least three goals. The thought of this makes me giggle. Brazil is so good that they are getting flack for "only" winning by one goal, and not doing so with flair.

Ok, that's all the sports talk for now, I promise. Don't worry, it'll all be over soon and I'll go back to normal for the next four years.

Anyhow...had a great weekend, went over to Liz's. She decided to throw a dinner party and cooked enough food for a horde of ravenous Mongols. Unfortunately, she only invited about 10 people, and not a Mongol among us, so there were many leftovers.

Sunday I hung out with Tomoko and Heidi, and we had a very girly day. There was shopping and ice-cream and snarky comments about other people's outfits and the trying-on of really, really ugly headbands.

Sadly, people actually do wear these. And some are even uglier. It's enough to make your eyeballs spontaneously start bleeding.

So, I'm sitting here watching footie (which still strikes me as odd. Me! Watching sports!) and I think the Serbian team has come up with an interesting strategy. As far as I can tell, they're trying to cripple all of their opponents. By the end of the game, the only Argentinean left will be the goal keeper. It's just crazy enough to work.

Just to clarify, the pizza picture was taken from a flyer, NOT an actual pizza. Of course I didn't actually order and eat it. Possibly, if all other forms of food on the planet disappeared over night, possibly then I might eat the Eggdog. But it's more likely I'd work my way through my extraneous body parts first.

There'll be no living with the Australians now. I mean, yes, it's their first time to get into the World Cup in 32 years, and yes, scoring all three of their goals in the LAST NINE MINUTES OF THE GAME is very impressive, but really. I have gotten quite a few smug emails already from various people (one complete with newspaper picture of deliriously happy Ozzies). Granted, had they been playing anybody but Japan at the time, I'd be happy for them, but as it is, grrrr.

Andrew brought his baby to the school last night. This was the first time I've gotten to meet her. It was pretty great...my entire 7 o'clock class consisted of Andrew chatting with our (lone) student, and me making googly faces at the baby. At 6 1/2 months, Sayana is only a little bit bigger than Liam, at 1 1/2. Granted, she's a girl, but still, the size gap (or lack thereof) is a bit ridiculous. At first she wasn't sure about the whole business and cried when I picked her up, but by the end of the hour she was sticking her fingers in my mouth, which I'm pretty sure means "Yeah, we're cool" in Baby.

I give you The World's Vilest Pizza. Ever.

The Eggdog

The ingredients are as follows...pizza sauce, egg salad, whole sausages, ketchup, onions, and parsley.

What I find most disturbing about this is that when I tell people about it, they usually respond with "Ketchup? Yuck!" I'm sorry. Did you perhaps miss the bit where I listed the EGG SALAD??? Ketchup is the least of this pizza's worries.

Spent a bit of time last night on the IACE website, looking at August fares. Europe officially joins North America in the "aha ha ha ha, you think I'm gonna pay HOW much to sit in a cramped seat and eat bad food? And that's BEFORE taxes and fuel charges? Ha ha ha!"! category.

So. This is what's left.

New Zealand starting at 80 000 yen. Not too shabby.

Bangkok starting at 51 000. Woo hoo!

Most other Asian cities seem to start at 78 000, but as far as I can tell, you can actually go to a couple of cities on that. So I could, theoretically, spend a week in Hanoi and then go on to Siem Reap. I'd have to talk to the travel agent in person, of course...the web site is not always a good indication of what's actually feasible.

Although what I kind of want to do is find out if Satoe is planning a South-East Asia shopping trip during that time and offer to go with her and hold the bags for her. I really love the sandals I bought from her, not least because they tend to cause other people to squeal enviously when they see them. Yeah, I'm shallow. Deal with it.
